Can I still have an RMD payment directly to a charity be tax free if I use the standard deduction?

    Yes, you do not have to itemize deductions to have a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). 

    In fact, the QCD is never included as a charitable contribution on Schedule A, Itemized Deductions.  It is just not taxed as a distribution for your Federal return.

    Yes.  But some states do not recognize QCDs, so you may owe state tax.
