Homeowners Insurance for a personal residence, not used as a rental or in a business, is not deductible on a tax return.

Auto insurance for a personal vehicle, not used in a business, is not deductible on a tax return.

I do not think that is fair. We are retired and we have to have home and auto insurance. If only business people can claim this, it just doesn't seem right.😪

@Kathy26 We do not  write the tax laws.  We just tell you what they are so you will not mess up your return.
