Can the fees for renewing a nursing license be deducted? If so, where does this information go for a W2 employee. I don't see it under deductions

No, unfortunately this is not deductible. Prior to this year, you could put it under unreimbursed employee expenses. Because of tax reform passed last year, that is no longer a deduction.

Under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that Congress signed into law on December 22, 2017, the unreimbursed employee expenses deduction has been suspended in tax years 2018 through 2025.
