Question

Can we get an extra amount taken for standard deduction? My husband and I are over 65 and live in Florida.

    Yes, for 2024, the additional amount for the standard deduction for over 65, for married taxpayers is $1,550.  

    When you enter your Date of Birth in the personal info section, TurboTax will automatically add extra $1,550 on your standard deduction which is $29,200 for married Filing Jointly and $14,600 if you are filing separately.  Each of you, since you are both over 65 will get the additional $1,550.
