CAR MILEAGE FILING JOINTLY

Hello me and my wife were both realestate agents. For mileage do i add both together or will there be another section for my wife to enter her mileage?

You would add each vehicle separately. Are you completing two separate Schedule C's? You cannot combine two businesses on one Schedule C. Are you operating as a partnership or multi-member LLC? If so, you must complete a Form 1065 and generate Schedule K-1's for each partner/member.

so if we are working individually as real estate agents we would need 2 schedule c's correct?

Correct.

 

The key word is "individually."  If you have incorporated (LLC or something else) or have an unincorporated partnership, things can get a little trickier.

there is an option for a husband/wife only partnership where both materially participate to only file separate schedule C's. No partnership return would be filed.  There is one requirement. The "partnership" can not be an LLC.  On the schedule c's each would report their separate share of income and expenses.
