Charitable Donation BUG/ERROR

If you take the Standard Deduction and file Jointly, Married and you enter individual cash Charitable Donations totaling less than $600, Tubo Tax will come up with an ERROR.  I see it also makes a similar type error for many other Charitable Donation situations. It seems the only way to correct it is to DELETE ALL the individual listed donations and manually enter the correct total allowed amount directly on to Form 1040.  Turbo Tax needs to FIX this error.

The $300/$600 donation is uniquely for people filing Single/Jointly that do not qualify for Itemized Deductions.  Since the Standard Deduction is right for you, there is no need to list Charitable Deductions in the Deductions & Credits area of your return.

To get credit for the additional $300 Single, or $600 Joint deduction you must:

First, you must clear all donations from the Deductions & Credits input screen

    In the Desktop version:

    1. Go to Deductions and Credits

    2. Scroll to the bottom of the page

    3. Select Done with Deductions

    4. Let's check your Deductions .. Continue

    5. Here are your 2021 Deductions ... Continue

    6. The standard deduction is right for you ... Continue

    7. GET A TAX BREAK FOR DONATING CASH TO CHARITY

    8. Enter your amount

    Online version

    1. Go to Deductions & Credits

    2. Scroll to the very bottom

    3. Select Wrap up Tax Breaks (Online)

    4. Continue through the interview to

    5. Charitable Cash Contributions under Cares Act

    6. Enter your donation.
