Charitible Contributions Carryover

I have a Charitible Contributions carryover from 2023.    I used the Itemized Deductions in 2023.

This year (2024) I will not be itemizing deductions, and it is unlikely that I will be itemizing deductions in the forseeable future.

Will I be able to get some sort of a deduction for this carryover?    Or am I just stuck with taking the Standard deduction?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Excess contributions can be carried over for 5 years. IRS Publication 526, Charitable Contributions, says the following (on page 19).

"Additional rules for carryovers. Special rules exist for computing carryovers if you:

    . . .

    • Claim the standard deduction in a carryover year,

    . . .

Because of their complexity and the limited number of taxpayers to whom these additional rules apply, they aren't discussed in this publication. If you need to figure a carryover and you are in one of these situations, you may want to consult with a tax practitioner."
