The software does not reduce the tax amount due unless the value of the the donation is $3000.00 or more.

These are household items that are donated.

Is anyone else having this problem.

Charitable donations will not reduce your tax due unless your total itemized deductions are more than your standard deduction.

You haven't given enough information for us to know what your standard deduction is, and we can't see all your itemized deductions. It could be that before adding the donation your total itemized deductions were $3,000 less than your standard deduction, so you needed $3,000 of additional deductions to make the itemized deductions more than your standard deduction.
