My daughter was born in October 2020, and I have read that I should retroactively receive both stimulus payments for her under the Recovery Rebate Credit. I completed the interview, which shows I should have received $1,700 and $1,200 respectively for the first and second payments. Due to her not being included on my 2019 filing, I only received $1,200 and $584 respectively.

To me it seems that I should be receiving a credit of $1,116 ($500 for the April payment and $616 for January), however it is showing a credit for $618 instead. I don’t understand where this amount is coming from.

Where is it showing 618?  On 1040 line 30?  If you have a high income in 2020 it is reduced.

And Go back to My Info and make sure you said your baby lived with you the WHOLE YEAR and not just the number of months.  Even a baby was born on Dec 31 is considered to live with you the whole year.  You might have to delete the baby and re add her.  Pay attention to the questions, especially the one asking if she paid more than half of her support.
