What if you have the child for 8 months can u still get tax credit

    During the year of a child's birth, they are eligible for all tax benefits as though they were already born at the start of the year. To get advance credits, you'll have to add the child using the Child Tax Credit Update Portal. The feature won't be available until later this summer, but set up your account on the portal now so you're ready to go when they update.
