Question

Contacted UE office numerous times about incorect claim on acct and now incorrect 1099 yet they have not done anything since Jan. How do I report this?

Two choices:

1. Report the income as you know it to be correct and be be prepared to explain it if your hear from the IRS (unlikely).

2. Report the income as it appears on the 1099-G/account and then claim an adjustment/deduction on line 8 of Schedule 1. In TurboTax (TT), enter at:
- Federal Taxes tab
 - Wages & Income
Scroll down to:
-Less Common Income
      -Misc Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
       - On the next screen, choose – Other reportable income -  Answer yes to Any other Taxable Income -On the next screen, Enter the number with a minus sign (-) in front.  Briefly explain at description (something like adjustment to incorrect 1099-G unemployment)
