Hello.  The $500 tax credit for other dependents is not being applied to reduce the amount of taxes owed for 2021, even though when I entered the information for the dependent TT responded with "good news! X qualified you for a tax break."  I received the credit last year and also satisfy all the criteria for this year.  Please help me figure out how to get the credit to show up.

Look at your tax return Form 1040 Line 19, the $500 Other Dependent credit will be entered if the dependent is eligible for the credit.

No, the credit is not showing on line 19.  It is blank.

Then look at the first page of the Form 1040 in the Dependents box.  Is there a check mark for the dependent in the box Credit for other dependents

Look at the actual form 1040 ... do you see the $500 on line 19?  What is the amount on line 18?

How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?

You can view your entire return or just your 1040 form before you e-file:

    1. Open or continue your return.
    2. Select Tax Tools in the left menu (if you don't see this, select the menu icon in the upper-left corner).
    3. With the Tax Tools menu open, you can then:
      • Select Print Center and then Print, Save, or Preview This Year's Return to preview your entire return, including all forms and worksheets (you may be asked to register or pay first).
      • View only your 1040 form by selecting Tools. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu.

No, it does not appear on line 19.  The amount on line 18 is the total tax I owe.
