Daughter not qualifying as dependent?

I provided more than 1/2 of my 22 yr old college student daughter for 8 months of 2021.  She got married on 9/4/21. has taxable earned income so will file a joint return just to get a refund of tax withheld.  Turbo Tax concluded she is a non-dependent and one of the possible reasons is she has taxable income > 0.  Can anyone explain this further?   I thought the threshold of gross income was ~12,000 for single and > 25,100 for married when if comes to qualifying as a dependent.

Her gross income is not relevant if she was a full time student for parts of 5 months.  Otherwise, the income limit is $4300.   The $12,550 amount ($25,100 MFJ) is the filing requirement, which is different from the dependent income test. Regardless of her income, she cannot be your dependent if she is filing a joint return with her spouse.  For a full discussion on your options, see
