Can I deduct medical expenses that were paid via our health care reimbursement account?  Our own money went into that account, and it was nearly all used up for 2016.  (Married filing jointly)

Unfortunately if the money went into that account using pre-tax dollars then no, you can not deduct the expenses paid out of that account.

If the money funded that account was with after tax dollars then you are able to deduct the expenses paid out of that account on your return. Medical expenses are an itemized deduction on Schedule A and are deductible to the extent they exceed 10% of your adjusted gross income (AGI). If you are 65 or over, they are deductible to the extent they exceed 7.5%  Please click here for more information: https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc502.html
