Assuming you are preparing your 2019 tax return, the threshold to deduct medical expenses is 7.5% of adjusted gross income. That is, medical expenses in excess of 7.5% of your income will be deductible for tax purposes.

The amount does change to 10% for 2020 tax returns, but you do not need to worry about that until you are preparing your 2020 tax return!
