Deducting accessories for computer & business cell phone - what category do they fall under?

First, I'm self-employed as a virtual assistant (i.e. executive assistant/personal assistant). I work completely from home. I know I can write off my desktop computer and my business cell as I have a separate laptop and cell I have for personal use.

I've have been searching and can find nothing about the accessories you purchase to go with these items. For example:

  • backup battery/surge protector power strip for the computer
  • webcam, keyboard, mouse, speakers for computer
  • charging cable and adapter for cell phone
  • screen protector and case for cell phone
  • and items like the above

My question is what category do these accessories fall under?

My guess is one of the following:

  • office expense because they are directly related to the item
  • office supplies because they aren't the actual computer or cell phone
  • other business expense because these don't fall under either of the two above
  • or another category all together

Thank you in advance for your help.

You may enter them as Supplies or Other Miscellaneous Expenses in the Business Expenses section.  If you use the Miscellaneous area, you can write a description with the amount.

Both areas are appropriate and produce the same result on your tax return.

    To enter your expenses:

    1. Type Sch C in the search/find bar and click search/find.
    2. Click on Jump to Sch C.
    3. Click on start/edit or Add Another Business.
    4. Scroll down to Business Expenses, Other Common Business Expenses
    5. Continue with the onscreen interview.

Additional information: Where do I enter Schedule C
