For tax year 2021person filing a single return can take a $300 deduction for cash gifts to qualified charities. Those filing jointly can take $600. You can take this deduction if you take the standard deduction but not if you itemize.

I am not itemizing.  Where do I see the $300 deduction in Turbotax?

To take the deduction:

  1. Login to your account.
  2. Select Federal from the left menu.
  3. Go to Deductions and Credits.
  4. Scroll down and click Done with Deductions.
  5. Continue and you will eventually get to the Charitable Cash Contributions Under Cares Act screen,

The amount will show on form 1040 line 12b.

To preview your 1040 form:

  1. Select Tax Tools then Tools.
  2. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu.
