my son is 40 years old and disabled. His only income in 2022 was social security payments.

This year, per Turbo Tax he is not recognized as a dependent. In all prior years Turbo Tax recognized him as a dependent.

How can this be, and how can I get it corrected

You might have answered something incorrectly in My Info.  Try deleting him and re-enter his information.  If his only income was SS and you paid for over half his support, you should be able to claim him and get the $500 credit for other dependents.

This usually happens if you answered some of the dependent questions incorrectly.  Go back to Personal Info and review all of your answers for him as your dependent.  You must have indicated that you paid more than half of his living expenses.  And that he did NOT earn $4,400 or more in 2022.  And you did NOT check the box that his SS number was not valid for employment.

You must make sure in the Personal Info section of TurboTax, you indicate that he was disabled.
