Regarding moving for work
Best answer by HelenC12

For most taxpayers, moving expenses are no longer deductible, meaning you can no longer claim this deduction on your federal return. This change is set to stay in place for tax years 2018-2025.

If you qualify to deduct your moving expenses, one of the requirement is the distance test which is the distance between your new workplace and your old home.  For additional information, see IRS Form 3903: Are Moving Expenses Tax Deductible?

Moving expenses are not deductible on your federal return except for certain active duty members of the military, per the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond.   Your state laws might be different.
