Question

Do I need to file a 1099-NEC for a third-party network transaction where payment was made through ACH (direct deposit), and not a credit card?

I paid a vendor for a service (2024) through Quickbooks Payments, who at the time was using Melio for their Bill pay transactions. This was not a credit card transaction, but an ACH direct deposit. I know the 1099-K's only report credit card transactions, but I have been told I do not need to file a 1099-K for transactions through a third party network, which Melio would be considered that. So should I file a 1099-NEC for this payment? It was over $600. I have also used Melio to send checks in the mail to some vendors, so I guess I would have the same question for those as well. Thank you!

Melio does not issue Forms 1099-K to payment recipients.  If your payments to a single vendor (that is not a corporation) exceed $600 you should send them a 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC depending on the nature of the payments.
