Do you have a child?  The rules went back to before 2020.   2020 and 2021 had special rules, there was no age limit and you didn't need a child.  And there is no lookback provision.

If you are under 25 or over 65 you need a qualifying child to get the EIC.

You do not meet the rules to qualify for EIC. You must be under age 65.

To claim the EITC without a qualifying Child you must meet all of the following rules:

    • Meet the EITC basic qualifying rules
    • Have your main home in the United States for more than half the tax year
      • The United States includes the 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. military bases. It does not include U.S. possessions such as Guam, the Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico
    • Not be claimed as a qualifying child on anyone else's tax return
    • Be at least age 25 but under age 65 (at least one spouse must meet the age rule).
