When will energy credits for new doors and windows be available for 2024?

    Best answer by MindyB

    Form 5695 is ready now.

Here's how you can claim the credit for energy efficient windows & doors:

    1. Upon opening TurboTax, choose Deductions & Credits
    2. Locate Your Home
    3. Start/Revisit Home Energy Credits
    4. On the Energy Efficient Home Improvements screen, select Yes then Continue.
    5. Answer the next few questions until you get to Did you have any of these residential energy property costs in 2024? Exterior windows and doors are listed in the bullets. Answer yes, we made these qualified energy efficient improvements.

    6. Answer the questions until you get to the screen "Tell Us How Much You Paid for Energy Efficiency Improvements." Here you enter the qualified costs.

There appears to be a bug in your Mac TT24 app.  For Heat Pumps the max credit is $2000, but your software only applies it to the $600 credit.  There is no selection for Heat pumps (electric) vs. the others, Water heaters, etc.

Going directly to the form 5695 and entering manually seems to work.  Just the guided section seems to have the issue.
