Energy Tax Credit
I purchased a home in CA that already had solar panels installed; however, the panels were financed and not paid off. I paid off the panels in full - am I eligible for a tax credit for the payoff amount?
No. The credit is claimed only as of the date the panels are installed, by the homeowner who installed them, even if they are being paid for over time.
