EV Charger 8911 for 2018 Amended Return

I am trying to Amend my 2018 tax return to include the purchase and installation of a EV charger/220 outlet. I entered the information in deductions, but the refund is stuck on zero. When I click on the Forms and look at the 8911, it is mostly blank and has "reserved for future use" in most of the sections.

I read that this was supposed to have been updated on 2/20/20. Did they not update the 2018 software? Should I use my 2019 software to try to amend the 2018 tax year information, or stick with the 2018 software? Help!

Doesn't look like 2018 will be updated with form 8911. Just checked and it is still not available. Going to have to file it manually.

In December 2019, Congress passed and the President signed into law the Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2019 , providing tax relief for millions of Americans. The law extends many already expired provisions that provide tax relief and support for families and individuals, special tax relief for certain disaster victims, and the extension of energy efficient tax credits.

For 2018 we are currently working on adding the extenders into 2018 TurboTax. This is projected to be completed by mid-March 2020.

I was informed that 2018 TurboTax will update its 8911 form in mid March. Let's see if it happens. They just did 2019 and 2018 is next.

For 2018 we are currently working on adding the extenders into 2018 TurboTax. This is projected to be completed by mid-May 2020.

I am also considering to amend my 2018 return. I bought the EV charger in December 2017 and got it installed in February 2018. I am wondering if it is sufficient to amend just 2018 return since the charges was put in service in 2018.
