Question

For some reason my return keeps saying I earned a Foreign Tax Credit, however, this is not true. What am I missing. Is this an error that is happening to the system?

Where does your tax return say that you have a foreign tax credit? Is there an amount on Schedule 3 line 1? That's where the foreign tax credit would be.

Do you have foreign tax paid in box 7 of a Form 1099-DIV? That would entitle you to a foreign tax credit.

I am having the same issue. I have not entered any of the forms listed and I have not earned a foreign tax credit.

If you received a 1099 INT or 1099 DIV, check boxes 6 for the INT and 7 for the DIV. If you have entries in either of these forms, you may eligible for a foreign tax credit for the foreign taxes you paid.
