Question

Foreign Financial Assets is defaulting to "Yes, I have foreign financial assets" tho I don't. When I select "no" it changes back to yes automatically. Pls help

Is there a any reason it would default to yes? I have a US address. Could this be a glitch?

    Have you tried clearing your cache and cookies?

     

    A full or corrupted cache can cause problems in TurboTax, so sometimes you need to clear your cache (that is, remove these temporary files).

     

    Here are the official instructions for the most popular browsers:

    Each browser has a slightly different method for deleting cookies. Choose the browser you're using:

    You  may have inadvertently indicated that you have a foreign account while proceeding through the program.

     

    Add/Delete Foreign Income:

    1. Open your return (if not already open).
    2. Enter "foreign income" in the Search box.
    3. Click on "jump to foreign income" link.  
    4. On the "Did You Make Any Money Outside the United States?" landing page, Answer "Yes"  if you did or "No" if you did not.   

    Here's the general procedure for viewing a list of all the forms in your return and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:

     

    1. Open or continue your return.
    2. On Tax Home, select Start, Continue, or Pick up where you left off to enter your return.
    3. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
    4. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
    5. Select Delete next to the form, schedule, and worksheet in the list and follow the instructions

    this still didn't work.. is there customer support or someone I can get ahold of without upgrading my account? I would switch to another platform at this point but unfortunately I have already paid.

    Try this. 

     

    1. Go to other tax situations
    2. Go to other Tax forms
    3. Miscellaneous tax forms
    4. Prepare a report on foreign financial assets
    5. Do you have any foreign financial assets say no

    Now sign out of your return. If you are in the software, close the program and save the return. Now sign back in and see if the error is gone.
