Foreign tax credit missing from interview process, and almost from my return!

I have paid foreign taxes for many years. The taxes paid are reported on my 1099 forms, which are downloaded to TurboTax from my financial firms. Each year I have been asked in the interview process how I want to handle these foreign taxes (deduction or credit) and walked through the somewhat complex process of taking the credit. This year, TurboTax never asked my about the reported foreign taxes during the interview process, or in the final checks before filing. Fortunately I recognized this was missing and went back and searched for foreign taxes under Search Topics. I was then taken to the interview and completed this portion of my return, for a credit of >$1500. 

I am very disappointed in this. If I had not previously taken a foreign tax credit, I might have missed this entirely and filed a return without this substantial credit.

Why did this happen? Can it be fixed?
