Question

Form 8606 missing on some of my past returns?

Hello,

I've been going through my past ten years' worth of returns on TurboTax and found that some years included Form 8606 - Nondeductible IRAs and others did not.

I'm pretty certain that I included my non-deductible IRA contributions each year but only 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2019 included Form 8606 automatically.

The years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 did not include Form 8606.

Anyone understand why this is? Were the forms included separately from the my final tax return for those years where 8606 is missing? How can I go back and re-submit for those years or is it way too late for that?

Thanks for any clarification here.

Joe

If you had non-deductible Traditional IRA  contributions for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018  AND entered them into the IRA contribution section AND specified that they were to be non-deductible the  there should be a 8606 for each year.

Check the 1040 for each year to see if you reported it as a deductible contribution instead.

Of non-deductible and you missed entering them in the IRA contribution interview then you can file a late 8606 for each year showing the contribution.

You can get past years 8606 forms and instructions here:
