Hi!

I got married on 2019, i filed taxes back in February but had to claim some deductions so i had to file an amended tax return. My wife received her 1,200$ deposit based on her 2018 taxes as she filed "single" and met the income. We for sure meet the income requirements for the stimulus check after the amended tax return gets processed. i know the IRS is not processing forms 1040x at the moment. My question is, will i still be able to receive the stimulus check after the amended tax return gets processed? thank you for your help!

This is all so confusing.

You should get your $1200. But because of the change of status (single/married) and your wife being on your (presumably) joint return for 2019, who knows what the IRS processing will do. It is hard to know if that will mess them up or not. You will get your money, it's a question of when. Worst case (not that it really helps) you'll get it when you file your 2020 taxes in 4/2021 (because it is actually an advance on a credit on your 2020 taxes).

You could try to check your status here, but many people have had trouble doing so. So if it says it can't determine your status, that doesn't really mean anything.

Yes! our joint return is for 2019, filed jointly and filed a form 1040x 1 month after filing the tax return we definitely meet the joint income for 2019 for the stimulus check. but she has already received a stimulus deposit based on her 2018 taxes filed  single. Get my payment tool shows "we can not determine your eligibility at this moment". I don't mind getting it later as long as i get it, i just had the doubt of wether i'm eligible or not based on what i explained. @jtax

Oh you'll get it for sure unless your 2019 or 2020 joint income is > $150k.

As I said worst case that you're have to be on the lookout for the obscure question from TT when doing 2020 taxes that asks if you didn't receive the economic recovery (incorrectly called a "stimulus" payment by many). If you answer no, it will ask more questions and you'll just get a bigger refund (or owe less tax) for 2020.
