Question

Have a 900 sq. ft inspection garage, used 100% Business. Its over the 300 sq ft. limit per person for a home office. Do I deduct unattached building as an office? Or how?

The utilities, taxes, etc. can be deducted through home office, but limited to only 300 sq. ft.

If you are using the actual cost method, you aren't limited to 300 sq. ft.

The limit of 300 sq. ft only applies to the simplified method of calculation.

Thank you! I was confused when I read that each husband and wife could claim the 300 sq. ft. for the use of an office, but that would only amount to 600 sq. ft. instead of the 900 sq. ft. used!

Thanks again!
