Question

Hey TurboTax Community! Quick Question. I am a resident alien, from Canada. Which tax form(s) do I need to fill out? I'm here working on a student visa at the moment.

Under a F-1 Student Visa you are unable to count the days present in the United States for any part of five calendar years toward meeting the Substantial presence test. Because you are considered a non-resident alien for tax purposes you will need to file Form 1040NR.

TurboTax does not support Form 1040NR. You will need to use Sprintax to file a Form 1040NR.  If you have questions you can contact Sprintax Help for assistance.
