Our previous furnace was installed in 2007.  We installed a new furnace and air conditioner in 2019.  How do I know if the new furnace & air conditioner qualifies for this Home Energy Credit? It is a York single stage 5 ton HVAC system for our 2300 square foot home. The SEER is 14.00  The EER (A2) is 11.70  We have a Certificate of Product Ratings that is AHRI Certified.

The Nonbusiness Energy Property Tax Credit offers a credit for residential energy property costs which would include furnaces.  The credit limit for a furnace is $150.

To input the information to claim the credit:

  1. Go to the Federal section
  2. Select "Deductions & Credits"
  3. Scroll through all tax breaks until you see the section titled "Your Home."
  4. To the right of "Home Energy Credits", select start/revisit

Please see the attached for additional information.
