Home refinanced. Original loan refinanced with a company that sold the loan after one payment. No 1098 from the company that sold loan after one payment. Do i need 1098

It depends, you might want to verify with the original loan lender if they sent you a Form 1098 (lenders are not required to send Form 1098 if they have received less than $600 in interest).

 

If you do not receive one but have paid interest to the original loan institute, then get your mortgage info by going to your lender’s website. Other documents, like your monthly mortgage bills and your Closing Disclosure (or HUD-1), will also have some of this info. Enter this into the same area as your other 1098.

 

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account 
  2. Click on "Search" on the top right and type “1098”
  3. Click on “Jump to 1098”

 

Please make sure when you enter your refinanced loan that you answer all questions carefully and indicate this is the most recent loan that was refinanced.
