Question

How can I delete property taxes paid to a different state from my state form? I have tried to use the edit option, but they continue to include it.

Turbo Tax seems to think it's for my primary residence. This seems like a glitch in the system.

You can go back to the property tax screens in TurboTax and delete any entries you made regarding your property taxes.

You can do this as follows:

    1. Click on the search icon in the upper right of your TurboTax screen.
    2. Type "property taxes" in the search bar and hit "Enter"
    3. Click on the link "Jump to property taxes"
    4. Your screen will say, "Enter any additional property taxes paid in 2024"
    5. Delete any entries

You will also have to delete any property taxes reported on your Form 1098 as follows:

    1. Click on your search icon in the upper right corner of your TurboTax screen
    2. Type "Form 1098" into the search bar
    3. Click on the link "Jump to Form 1098"
    4. Continue through your screen
    5. On the screen that says, "Let's get the details from your Form 1098"
    6. Delete any property taxes entered there.

Your screens will look something like this:
