Question

How can I file without Form 1116? I paid $0.54 in foreign taxes, reported on my 1099-DIV. I am not required to submit Form 1116 but I am being forced to upgrade to Deluxe

I didn't submit Form 1116 myself because the info was taken from my 1099-DIV. I don't want the Foreign Tax Credit if I'm forced to pay $60 to upgrade and file over $1 (from the round up). How can I remove it from my return since it's not required?

Bring up the 1099-DIV and delete the entry in box 7.

@rogge1722 has the solution for your problem -  bring up the 1099-DIV and delete the entry in box 7.

If the Form 1116 has already been started by the program, you will have to delete it.

See: How do I delete forms in TurboTax Online?

After deleting the Form 1116 and any associated worksheets, log out of the program. When you log back in, use the Delete a Form tool (List of Forms in My Return) to confirm the Form 1116 and any associated worksheets have been removed from your return.

I assume the workaround is NOT checking the "info in other boxes" and filling out the rest, but the "what if" on the side only talks about Box 8, which is supposed to be a list of countries you paid taxes to. Box 7 is what I paid, so it all seems conflicting. Do I just not report anything after Box 2 and leave the rest blank?
