How can I tell if I got both the Child Tax Credit and the Additional Tax Credit applied to my refund? I qualify for both but only see the Additional applied?

The Child Tax Credit is nonrefundable while the Additional Child Tax Credit is refundable. Please see this TurboTax article.

This means that your Child Tax Credit is invisibly applied to whatever tax was assessed to you, while the Additional Child Tax Credit was whatever the excess was over the assessed tax that was left.

Very likely your Child Tax Credit was greater than or equal to your assessed tax, so your assessed tax was reduced, and the Additional Child Tax Credit was whatever was greater than the leftover assessed tax (if any).

Next, look at lines 19 and 28 on your 1040.

If you had no tax liability you would get no child tax credit since it is non refundable.

Look at your 2023 Form 1040 to see the child-related credits you received
