Question

How do I add income I received from my Mother? For taking care of her, house and yard. $6,000 total

It depends. If she gave it to you for being a good kid, it is a gift and not taxable. If it was because of actually working for her, then it would be income. 

  • If it is like a business, where you will keep doing this and want to pay Medicare and Social Security tax, then enter it as self-employment income on Sch C. You can take deductions for supplies and things.
  • If this  is just a one time thing where you just need to report the income, enter it under other income.

3. Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, Start
4. Scroll to the bottom
5. Other reportable income, Start
6. Other taxable income?
7. Select YES
8. Description 
9. Amount, enter your amount
10. Continue
