How do i claim repairs to city property/road that leads to my home? city says i am responsible for repairs to their property. I put in $13,400 of concrete on road

i share easement rights with another household. Road was put in in 1970's of 1" asphalt.  was collapsing and full of potholes from deterioration.  City refused to do their maintenance of their property.  i concreted 60% of the road. the rest is still really bad.

Sorry personal expenses are not deductible.   Maybe you can add it to the cost basis of your home when you sell.

 Charitable contributions to governmental units are tax-deductible under section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code if made for a public purpose.

 

So, when would a gift to a local government not be “for exclusively public purposes”? The IRS code does not specifically define “public purpose,” but it has been interpreted in part to mean that the contribution or gift must not be intended to benefit any particular individual.
