How do I dispose of a non-working electric clothes dryer purchased in 2016 & replaced with a new clothes dryer in 2023?

original dryer purchased 06/2016 & is shown on current schedule e depreciation list; new dryer purchased 08/2023. both dryers are used 100% in the rental residential house property

As you go through the depreciation of assets under your rental property, edit the entry for the old dryer.  There will be a question there that asks if you stopped using the asset during the year.  Answer 'yes' and go through the rest of that section.  If you completely disposed of it, versus selling it, enter $0 for the sales price.

 

Then, enter a new asset to begin depreciating the new dryer.
