You need to know the amount of property taxes that were actually paid in 2020, so contact whoever issued you the 1098, or your municipality.

if you had an escrow a/c you could look at the monthly mortgage statements.  it's not your monthly deposits but the amount taken out to the pay taxes. 

There are several ways to see the amount of property taxes paid in 2020.

One way is to look at the last escrow analysis statement you received, and see if it shows a withdrawal amount *FOR 2020* for your property taxes.

Another way is to log into your mortgage account online and look at the escrow history.

Another way is to go to your property appraiser's website and look it up there.

Whichever way works for you, just make sure that you are looking at a transaction in 2020, and not 2019 or 2021.
