Question

How do I get the payment for the Advance Child Tax Credit for a child I did not claim last year, but do claim this year?

I only received the ACTC for one of my children because the other child's father claimed them last year. This is my year to claim the child so I should get the FULL credit on this years return. How do I make  this adjustment on my tax forms?

When you file this year's return and claim both of your children you will receive the remainder of the Child Tax Credit (CTC) for the child you claimed last year and the full amount of your CTC for the child you are now claiming this year.  This is the only adjustment you have to make on your tax forms.

Then is he claiming the other child this year?  It may cancel out the CTC this year if you are not claiming the other child this year.
