Question

How do I see the hypothetical schedule A, as I navigate the questions to know if it's worth taking the time to add items (i.e. donations)? I don't see it in forms?

Unless your itemized deduction exceeds the standard deduction there will not be a scheduled A.

You can check the actual amount of itemized deductions by using the Search Topics for "itemized deductions, choosing" (under "My Account, Tools" in the online versions). Click on "Change my deduction". That will display the actual amount of itemized deductions vs. the standard deduction. (Be sure to uncheck "Change my deduction" after checking it so you do not lock in the wrong deduction.

Thanks so much.  I'm using the download version of 2019.  Any idea if there is a way to do it there?

If it's giving you the Standard Deduction and  not showing you Schedule A you have to switch to Forms Mode and open A from the top of the left column Open Form and pick schedule A out of the US list on the right side.
