How to use TurboTax for citizens living abroad

I see you recommend using TurboTax to file taxes when living abroad.

Unfortunately in the past I could not find the option to file as living abroad and ended up using different software and even paper forms. I basically went through the questionnaire and it would direct me to file as if living in the US. What are the steps/configuration needed for my case?

I don't understand what you mean by "the option to file as living abroad." There is no such option on a tax return. What exactly is it that you can't find in TurboTax?

When TurboTax asks for your state of residence, select "Foreign or U.S. Territory" from the drop-down list. When it asks for your mailing address, select "Foreign Address" and enter your foreign address. There are topics in the TurboTax interview for the foreign earned income exclusion and the foreign tax credit.
