How do I know if I can leave my HSA off my taxes when I file. It keeps wanting me to upgrage.

You have to report distributions and contributions.

If you made an HSA contribution for the year or your made HSA distributions during the year, your tax return for that year is required to include Form 8889. The free version of TurboTax does not support Form 8889. When using TurboTax, you must use a paid version to prepare a tax return that is required to include Form 8889.
