If the only entry on a W2 issued by former employer is the HSA amount, do you enter it as a W2 or do you enter it under HSA?

It is on the W2, so it is entered there. The program carries it through and runs the checks to make sure you did not overcontribute and other checks, like qualifications. You said that you retired.

To be an eligible individual and qualify for an HSA, an individual must meet the following requirements.

•The individual must be covered under a high deductible health plan (HDHP) on the first day of the month.

•The individual must have no other health coverage. There are exceptions.

•The individual is not enrolled in Medicare.

•The individual cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return. This is true even if the other person does not actually claim the individual as a dependent.
