For california state tases, it is considering all of my HSA contribution to be from the employer, but that is not correct they only contributed a portion of the amount. Does calif. treat the contribution the same way as federal does? If not how do I adjust it.

TurboTax is handling the HSA contributions in CA correctly.

The problem is in the IRS terminology.

"Employer" contributions are contributions THROUGH (not by) the employer. It is the code W amount in box 12 on your W-2.

The code W amount consists of contributions from your employer (if any) PLUS contributions by the taxpayer by means of payroll deduction.

So change your thinking about what "employer" contributions are - they are all contributions (whether by your employer or you) made through your employer and appearing on your W-2.

    Do no adjust anything.
