Hurricane IAN Amended tax return 2022 vs 2023

I declared. hurricane Ian Casualties on my 2022 Tax return. Unfortunately, more damages were discovered in 2023. My question is: Do I amend 2022 by adding the new information on form 4684 ? OR, amend 2022 by making the 4684 "0" and then entering all the revised data on my 2023 Tac Return on form 4684?

There's nothing wrong with either of those approaches. You could also make a brand new 4684 that just includes the new damage. Any of these would be correct.

So the answer is - figure out which of these approaches gets you the biggest refund and do that.
