Question

I accidentally checked the disaster relief thinking it was the covid relief. I cannot get it to update. Any advice?

I’ve checked the deductions area, under theft and disaster relief but it’s not asking that question to me again.

Please follow these steps to get back to the Disasters, theft, and other property loss or damage question:

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click “Deductions & Credits”  from the left side of your screen (under Federal)
  3. Scroll down to "Other Deductions and Credits" and click "Show more"
  4. Select revisit next to "Disasters, theft, and other property loss or damage"

If you are referring to the disaster question in the retirement area:

  1. Click on the "Search" on the top and type “1099-R”
  2. Click on “Jump to 1099-R”
  3. If you do not have any 2022 1099-R answer "No" to "Did you get a 1099-R in 2022?" (If you have any other 1099-R then enter all 1099-R and after entering your last 1099-R click "Continue" on the “Review your 1099-R info” screen)
  4. Answer "No" to the "Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2022?" screen

Please be aware some customers experiencing an issue with the disaster distribution. Please see Why can't I uncheck the disaster distribution box? for more details.
