Question

I am not getting a credit for HSA contributions in 2024 . I did get a credit for 2023 HSA contributions. Anyone have ideas why ?

    There is no credit for HSA contributions.  Rather, if you made the contributions via payroll withholding, your W-2 wages in Box 1 are already reduced by the HSA contributions. The information from your W-2 will be reported on Form 8889. 

     

    However, if you made contributions personally,  outside of payroll, then you will get a deduction.  This will show up on your return, Schedule 1, Part II, Line 13.
