I am only getting $680 for my child tax credit. Is there a reason I'm not getting $2000 per child

The child tax credit is a nonrefundable credit meaning you must have a tax liability for it to offset in order to get it. If you income was not high enough to have enough tax liability, the amount of child tax credit will be reduced. You may qualify for a refundable credit called the additional child tax credit in place or or in addition to the child tax credit. You can get it even if you have lower income and no tax liability. You can see the child tax credit on line 12a of form 1040 and the additional child tax credit on line 17b of form 1040.
